CASE STUDY

Murphy Group

Direct Utilities were tasked with an above-ground Gas Installation project (AGI) recently with the Murphy Group.

The Murphy Group were constructing two new heat exchangers and they commissioned Direct Utilities to lay, connect and test approximately 80m of 250mm pre-insulated water pipework.

“It was a complex project,” explains Darren Gorman, Director of Direct Utilities. “Everything had to be welded in position at exact levels in a very tight site. It was a live gas station so everything had to be planned safely. Because of our training and experience we are comfortable carrying out this work.”

Collaborative approach

Direct Utilities had previously carried out works for the Murphy Group and worked with their team on a collaborative basis to make sure all tasks were completed cohesively. “There was very good planning from the Murphy Group from the start and we worked with their crew as one team to make sure we completed on time.”

The Murphy Group were extremely happy with the outcome of the project and Direct Utilities were subsequently commissioned to work on other AGI stations for the Murphy Group as well as complete a water main alteration.
