WuXi Biologics, Dundalk
Direct Utilities was recommended to WuXi Biologics by Gas Networks Ireland. WuXi required a specialist contractor, experienced in all aspects of natural gas, to connect a new boiler room from a new gas skid on a live working site.
WuXi Biologics contracted Direct Utilities to lay, test and commission the 150 metres of 250mm PE gas main from the new Gas Networks Ireland gas skid to a new boiler room.
It was a complex task to navigate – Direct Utilities managed all aspects of the project, the most challenging of which was purging gas on a live working site.
In-house expertise
With their safety first approach, careful planning and fully trained and experienced team the work went smoothly and successfully and the project was delivered on time and on budget.
“We started the project with clear communication to WuXi about what Gas Networks Ireland will expect and carefully planned the works with the main contractors,” said Darren Gorman, Director of Direct Utilities. “It helped that we are self-sufficient and we have all the required expertise on our team and all required equipment and plant. Not having to rely on additional contractors or hire equipment allows us to work faster and ensure we retain the expertise for each future project.”
Direct Utilities has since completed three additional utilities projects for WuXi Biologics.
